princess Kate (42) is back: On Saturday morning, the wife of heir to the throne Prince William (41) appeared in public for the first time since announcing her cancer in March 2024. Kate was photographed arriving at Buckingham Palace in a Bentley alongside her family. For her return, she chose a white dress with a black and white bow and a color-coordinated hat. Her husband wore a uniform befitting his status for the “Trooping the Color” parade.

The entire royal family set off in carriages from Buckingham Palace at around 11:30 a.m. towards Horse Guards Parade. The parade will begin at 12 noon with the inspection of the troops by King Charles III (75). The royal family is expected back at the palace at around 1:20 p.m. At around 2 p.m. the family will watch a Royal Air Force flyover from the balcony and show themselves to their people there.

King Charles “delighted” about Princess Kate’s participation

“Trooping the Colour” is an annual military parade in June in honour of the birthday of the respective British monarch. Although there had been rumors for weeks that Princess Kate might take part despite her ongoing chemotherapy, the final announcement came as a surprise to all royal observers. In a Social media post Kate said on Friday (June 14): “I’m making good progress but as anyone who undergoes chemotherapy knows, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak and tired and you need to let your body recover. But on the good days when you feel stronger you want to make the most of feeling comfortable.”

A little later, the King also commented on Kate’s participation through a spokesman: “His Majesty is delighted that the Princess will be able to attend tomorrow’s events and is very much looking forward to all aspects of the day.”
