King Charles had to be absent on the second day of Royal Ascot, but Prince William once again cut a fine figure as his replacement.

According to British media, on the opening day (18 June) of the prestigious Royal Ascot horse race, it was already clear that King Charles will not be attending the second day of the event. It was not announced in advance who would sit at Queen Camilla’s side during the traditional carriage procession, but it was likely based on the past weeks and months.

And so the king-designate, Prince William, put on his best smile as well as the obligatory top hat and accompanied his stepmother. Queen Camilla, meanwhile, had opted for a royal blue from head to toe on day two. The Earl and Countess of Halifax also enjoyed the privilege of the first carriage – and thus the company of William and Camilla.

Despite his absence, King Charles was not idle, according to “Mirror” He held a series of audiences at Buckingham Palace. He is also expected to be part of the event again on the third day of Royal Ascot on June 20. In the case of Princess Kate, who is also suffering from cancer, it is not expected that she will appear on any of the three remaining days.

Royal Ascot will continue until June 22nd. The five-day event with a strict dress code was considered the favorite event of the late Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022). In terms of fashion, Royal Ascot is famous above all for its colorful and extravagant hats. These are compulsory for women, and the headgear must have a minimum diameter of around ten centimeters. Fascinators, i.e. small hats that are attached using hairpins, hair clips, combs or headbands, are prohibited. For the male royals, top hats and tailcoats are the fashion order of the day.
