It’s tough allegations that Prince Harry makes in his controversial memoir. In “Spare”, the Duke of Sussex describes his existence as a spare parts store for his brother: Should something happen to Prince William and he needs organs or blood.

Montecito – Prince Harry (38) revealed more details about his childhood and his relationship with Prince William (40) in his explosive memoirs. In Spare, the Duke of Sussex writes that he grew up knowing he would be there for his older brother, the Prince of Wales, should he need an organ donation.

“I was born in case anything happened to Willy,” Harry writes

He further claims that his parents Princess Diana (36, † 1997) and King Charles III (74) and his grandparents Queen Elizabeth II (96, † 2022) and her husband Prince Philip (99, † 2021) even referred to him and his brother as heirs and substitutes – in a kind of “short form”. He further describes his life as one “Mission, a source of distraction, entertainment, and a spare when needed” should the heir require a kidney, blood transfusion or bone marrow.

As if that weren’t already an incredibly cold-hearted description of his family, Harry claims that this notion of “inheritance” and “spare part” has been reinforced throughout his life. The feeling of being there just in case something happened to William was made “overstated” to him from an early age and was “regularly reinforced” throughout his life.

An anecdote serves Prince Harry as additional evidence of his sentiment

Of course, no one is in Prince Harry’s skin. But three circumstances at least make this sentiment appear questionable. The Duke of Sussex is now a father of two himself and emphasizes how incredibly emotional he experiences his fatherhood. Countless photographs – more than anyone else has available – speak volumes and clearly show the love his family has for Harry. In particular, the duke has never questioned his mother’s unconditional love.

But the king’s second-born cites an anecdote from when he was 20 years old. The story revolves around “alleged words” reported by his father to his mother, Princess Diana, on the day he was born. King Charles III is said to have said to his wife: “Wonderful! You have already given me an heir and a surrogate child; I’ve done my job”. The monarch also gets off badly when it comes to paternity: reported elsewhere in “Spare”. Harry, his father Charles would have expressed doubts about the authenticity of their blood relationship.
