As a soldier in Afghanistan, Prince Harry was on the front lines. In his book he talks about the 25 people he killed in action.

Content from Prince Harry’s (38) autobiography “Spare” (German: “Reserve”), which actually only officially appears on January 10, is already trickling every minute to the public. The latest report, which is picked up by the British newspaper “The Telegraph”, among others, deals with Prince Harry’s military service in Afghanistan. For the first time speak the son of King Charles III. (74) in his book about the people he killed there while piloting an Apache helicopter.

He killed 25 members of the Taliban in the course of his six missions. In the heat of the moment, he didn’t see the people as “people, but as chess pieces,” it said. He was trained in the army to see his goals as “something different, and they trained me well,” Harry said. “So my number is 25. It’s not a number that leaves me satisfied. But I’m not ashamed of it either,” quotes “The Telegraph” from the autobiography.

fear for his conscience

Consequently, in his perception, he “killed the wicked before they could kill the good”. He said that to himself “from day one before going to bed” so that he could fall asleep without a doubt that he had done the right thing. “I wanted to go back to Britain with all my limbs. But more than that, I wanted to come home with a clear conscience.”

His time and his actions as a soldier are therefore one of the reasons why Prince Harry increasingly fears for his safety and that of his family. As a royal, who also killed members of the Taliban in combat operations, he was a particularly vulnerable target for Islamist attacks. This also explains why he so vehemently criticized the decision of the British Home Office that the state was no longer responsible for the security of his family in his home country, but that he had to take care of it himself.
