Meghan and Harry: What connects them with Tyler Perry?
Duchess Meghan (42) and Prince Harry (39) want to pay their respects to their close friend. The Hollywood mogul and philanthropist is the godfather of their daughter Lilibet (3). He had previously helped the couple to gain a foothold in the USA and had let the royal dropouts live in one of his properties for a while. In addition to the Sussexes, other close friends and colleagues are part of the host committee, including actresses Whoopi Goldberg (68), Taraji P. Henson (53) and Kerry Washington (47).
“Throughout my career, I have strived to bring people together and give a voice to those who are often underrepresented in the media,” says Perry according to “The Hollywood Reporter” in a statement about his honor, which includes the presentation of an award. “I am honored to receive this award from the Paley Center for Media, an organization dedicated to highlighting the power and importance of media.” Maureen J. Reidy, President of the Paley Center for Media, said: “Through his celebrated and prolific body of work, Tyler Perry has cemented his place as one of the greatest and most influential figures in the media world.” With each new project, he continues to advance the industry and culture. “It is a great honor for us to honor Tyler on December 4th with our highest honor, the Paley Honors Award.”
The gala is scheduled to take place on December 4 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills.
