Montecito, the Californian hometown of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, has to be evacuated because of a bad storm.

The Californian municipality of Montecito, home to numerous celebrities such as Prince Harry (38), Duchess Meghan (41), Oprah Winfrey (68) and Ellen DeGeneres (64), was evacuated on Monday. According to US media reports have been in the region a strong storm. The evacuation of Montecito is reportedly necessary because the affluent coastal community faces “flooding and mudslides” after heavy rains.

The magnitude of the storm showed talk host Ellen DeGeneres in a video on Instagram. She filmed torrential floods where previously a quiet stream had apparently run. “We have to be nicer to Mother Nature because Mother Nature isn’t happy with us,” the TV host said in the video. “Let’s all do our part. Everyone stay healthy.” Five years ago, during a storm in Montecito, mudslides killed 23 people and destroyed more than 100 homes in the community.

Harry and Meghan have been living in Montecito since 2020

Prince Harry and his wife Duchess Meghan moved to Montecito in 2020 after stepping down as senior members of the royal family and leaving the UK. Other celebrities with properties in the community, according to US media after Jennifer Aniston (53), who is said to have bought a $14.8 million property from Oprah Winfrey in September, Gwyneth Paltrow ( 50), Rob Lowe (58) and Adam Levine (43).
