Prince Andrew will attend Prince Philip’s memorial service. It could be the last public appearance for the Queen’s son.

Prince Andrew (62) will attend the funeral service for Prince Philip (1921-2021) next week. His performance on March 29 at London’s Westminster Abbey should be confirmed according to the “Daily Mail”.. The Duke of York is said to be determined to pay his respects to his father, who passed away last April. And that despite fears at the palace that his presence could divert attention from the real occasion.

The memorial service is intended to provide an opportunity for representatives of the many organizations with which Prince Philip has worked to say their farewells. His funeral in April 2021 was limited to 30 people due to the Corona restrictions.

Prince Andrew’s last appearance?

Prince Andrew has made numerous negative headlines in recent years. In February, he settled an abuse lawsuit brought by Virginia Roberts Giuffre (38) before a US court out of court. He is said to have paid millions to the American for this – according to media reports, it was an eight-digit amount. Prince Andrew has always denied the allegations against him.

According to the Daily Mail, palace officials expect the Duke of York to disappear from public life after the service at Westminster Abbey. The allegations have done significant damage to the prince’s reputation. In January, Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Andrew would no longer be referred to as “His Royal Highness” and that his official duties and patronage would be transferred to other members of the royal family.

He was also stripped of his honorary military titles and defended himself as a private citizen in the Giuffre case. Just a few days after a failed interview with the “BBC” in November 2019, he resigned from his public offices.

Prince Harry has canceled

It is still unclear whether Elizabeth II (95), who turns 96 in April and celebrates her platinum jubilee this year, can attend the memorial service for Prince Philip. The Queen lives and works at Windsor Castle. In mid-March, she canceled the Commonwealth Day service in London, which raised renewed concerns about the health of the 95-year-old. According to media reports, a specific illness should not be behind it.

The monarch, who recovered from a corona infection with mild symptoms in February, still hopes to attend the memorial service for her late husband, the Daily Mail reported. However, she may not be “mobile enough to do this,” the paper continued.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry (37) has canceled. He will not be traveling to the UK to attend the funeral service in honor of his late grandfather. According to “People”, this was confirmed by a spokesman for the Royals, who moved to California in 2020 with his wife, Duchess Meghan (40). There had previously been a discussion about police protection for Prince Harry in the UK. His legal team has reportedly said the Duke of Sussex “doesn’t feel safe” bringing his family to the UK.
