It’s another step into insignificance: Since Wednesday, Prince Andrew can no longer be found on social media. This measure probably has one goal in particular.

The decline and public disappearance of Prince Andrew continues relentlessly. Queen Elizabeth II’s second son had already had his military titles revoked last week. In addition, the 61-year-old had to return all royal patronage to his mother. He will no longer be able to call himself “His Royal Highness”. The Royal had previously been relieved of all public duties.

Now Andrew has also virtually disappeared from the public eye. While his Twitter account @thedukeofyork was still available on Tuesday, according to the “Daily Mail”, it was deleted today. The royal can also no longer be found on Instagram and Facebook under his profile @hrhthedukeofyork. Another step towards invisibility, which is primarily intended to protect the crown.

Because this year, Prince Andrew will have to face a sensational lawsuit: the American Virginia Giuffre has sued the son of the English queen for damages. She accuses him of sexually abusing her several times when she was 17. According to the lawsuit filed in New York, the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his recently convicted partner Ghislaine Maxwell introduced her to the prince.

Prince Andrew has to answer in court

The judge has already approved the lawsuit, and the trial is expected to take place this fall. Andrew has always denied the allegations. But even if he should prove innocent in court – a public trial would be extremely embarrassing. Not just for Andrew himself, but for royalty in Britain.

Andrew’s gradual disappearance from public view serves one primary purpose: to avert damage to the Crown.
