Oil has become cheaper again. So far, however, this has hardly had any effect on drivers at the petrol pumps.

After the extreme increases of the past few weeks, fuel prices are slowly declining. Diesel became cheaper by 1.5 cents and cost 2.292 euros per liter on a nationwide daily average on Tuesday, as announced by the ADAC on Wednesday.

E10 cost 1.1 cents less and cost 2.192 euros per liter.

A calming down in fuel prices has been observed for a few days. Nevertheless, they are much higher than before the start of the Ukraine war. For diesel, the difference is just under 63 cents. With E10 it’s a good 44 cents.

The price of oil has approached its pre-war levels. On Tuesday, oil from the North Sea variety Brent, which is important for Europe, temporarily cost less than $100 per barrel (159 liters) after the price had peaked at over $139 last week. It climbed back above the $100 mark on Wednesday morning.
