President of the RN by interim, Jordan Bardella wants to be “the first support of Marine Le Pen”

As he prepares to celebrate his 26th birthday, Jordan Bardella, current first vice-president of the National Rally, will take on Sunday – and until the presidential election – the place of Marine Le Pen at the head of the party. Inserted for nearly ten years, the young man from Seine-Saint-Denis has already exercised almost all the functions that it is possible to embody within a political formation.

“He is a good organizer, legitimate and close to the activists,” said Sébastien Chenu, spokesperson for the RN, of him. This appointment makes the other parties outdated and hammers home our interest in young people ”. While Marine Le Pen moves away from the device to better embody the “camp of those who love France”, the person confided to 20 minutes the missions of her interim and comments on the first political measures that her mentor could take if she acceded to the supreme office.

You are about to take the presidency of the National Assembly, what meaning do you want to give to this interim?

I will be Marine Le Pen’s first support. My role will be to campaign and prepare, in parallel, the legislative elections and the constitution of the future presidential majority, by selecting the best, the most deserving and the most representative of their territories.

Through my modest person, I would also like to contribute to the emergence of a new generation of leaders who aspire to change the situation in our country: this is a message sent to all French youth. We embody this renewal on a daily basis through our mayors, our elected officials and our parliamentarians, and not only through people who come from the RN.

This is why we are proud to welcome Philippe Ballard, who will lead the communication of the campaign and who has been a journalist on LCI for many years, but also Christophe Bay, former prefect and servant of the State, who will lead the campaign team. These new leaders have a vocation to work for the common good, in the service of France.

The RN suffered from the abstention of its voters in regional and departmental elections, how do you plan to re-mobilize your electorate?

I believe that the health crisis played a lot in the abstention that we observed during the last elections, which in truth were marked by a general disinterest of the French. But mobilizing its voters is obviously one of the party’s priorities. This is why we have launched a major purchasing power campaign under the RN label. Thus, one of the first measures that we will take if we come to power will be to abolish the VAT on TICPE (Internal tax on the consumption of energy products), this tax on a tax that we pay today when we consume fuel and which has an impact on the standard of living of our fellow citizens.

The slogan of Marine Le Pen, during her presidential campaign, will be the defense of “freedoms”. What does this mean and how can we put freedom back at the heart of society?

Under Emmanuel Macron, and more than under any other five-year term, individual freedoms were considerably restricted. This desire of Marine Le Pen is to give the French back control of their destiny. The freedom to be themselves, to protect their borders and to protect their economic model from savage globalization. It will also be democratic freedom, with the establishment of a citizens’ initiative referendum and proportional representation for the election of deputies. But it will also be an opportunity to embody freedom of expression more broadly. Today is one of the blind spots of Emmanuel Macron’s five-year term, the restoration of freedoms, like that of authority in our country, will be part of Marine Le Pen’s two strong commitments during his five-year term.

The RN logo does not appear on Marine Le Pen’s first campaign poster, proof of her desire to break away from the party. Why ?

We are in the pure tradition of the authorities of the Fifth Republic. General de Gaulle had conceptualized the Constitution, with regard to the presidential election, as the meeting between a woman or a man with the French people. In a presidential election, we go beyond partisan divisions. Marine Le Pen wishes to be the candidate of the nation and of sovereignty in the broad sense by exceeding the cap of the RN, and this is why she will renounce her presidency this Sunday, in order to bring together all those who wish to defend the sovereignty of the Nation .

What does this change?

It is a message addressed to all those who wish to join us, whether they are from the right or from the left. All those who believe in France and who wish to give it back its sovereignty, its freedom, its prosperity, its security and its authority in the world. Whether they come from the right or from the left, they are all invited to join us to participate in this battle and this presidential campaign. We have no opponent on the side of those who believe in France. Whether it is Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, Eric Zemmour or Arnaud Montebourg, they are welcome if they wish to line up behind us. If there is one point on which we agree with Emmanuel Macron, it is on the fact that the left-right divide has been overcome.

You said that the big replacement theory testified to a reality “which is right”… Why is that?

I dispute the conspiratorial dimension of the “great replacement”. It is nevertheless a question of putting words to the evils. Massive and uncontrolled immigration has considerably changed the face of a certain number of territories and neighborhoods and is a vector of tension. Jérôme Fourquet says it in his book the French Archipelago : in 2019 18% of newborns have Arab-Muslim first names, against 1% in the 1960s. This is not a value judgment, it is just a fact, and the statistics say so.

This is why one of the very strong commitments we want to make over the five-year term will be to stop immigration. We will set ourselves on the threshold that we proposed in 2017, i.e. 10,000 admissions per year. Obviously, we must stop illegal immigration, send the illegals home and organize, like Denmark, the treatment of asylum in the countries of departure, because we realize that the right to asylum is totally misguided and has become an immigration channel in its own right.

Difficult not to see a call of the foot to Eric Zemmour (credited with 6 to 8% in the last polls of voting intentions)… Do you fear that it harms the campaign of Marine Le Pen?

You will concede that we did not wait for Eric Zemmour to talk about immigration! Marine Le Pen arrives in the second round in almost all the polls, she is the best placed candidate, from the camp of those who defend the nation, to win, so we do not fear it. But it is obvious that the candidacy of Zemmour could lead to a division of the votes of the national camp, which would obviously be detrimental to the interest of France. Being a candidate at all costs, targeting the only person who has no responsibility in the current situation, that’s French suicide. In the end, the only one to welcome a candidacy from Eric Zemmour is our common enemy: Emmanuel Macron.

Marine Le Pen announced two shock measures: the nationalization of highways, and the privatization of public broadcasting. Are they not contradictory?

Our program is above all that of common law. Whether it involves nationalization on the one hand, or privatization on the other. We want to restore purchasing power to the French. By privatizing the public audiovisual sector, we are ridding the French of the television license fee and we guarantee the freedom of the press, while keeping the regulatory powers through the control of frequencies. I consider it healthy for a great democracy not to have control over the audiovisual sector.

Regarding highways, the French have been victims of spoliation for several years now. In 2006 and 2016, the price of tolls increased by 20% and represents nearly 200 euros on average per year for households. By nationalizing them, we want to engage in a lasting reduction in the price of tolls, and return this money to the French.
