In the Microsoft developers write release notesthat the new function – still without a German translation – “Advanced Paste” relies on artificial intelligence. It can convert clipboard contents to other target formats. The AI support relies on OpenAI. Activating the “Enable Paste with AI” option requires an API key, which interested parties can obtain after logging in to their (free) OpenAI account.

The “Command not found” feature now relies on repositories from the Powershell Gallery directory. It is also available on the ARM64 processor architecture. There are also improvements in accessibility. Some problems were reported in the last review, most of which the developers now want to have fixed.

Code cleanup is also progressing. According to the programmers, they have refactored the sources of the Environment Variable Editor, Hosts File Editor and Registry Preview tools. “Paste as Plain Text” is no longer a separate tool, but part of “Advanced Paste”. The release notes list the many small improvements in the new version of the power toys in more detail.

The current version can be downloaded and installed from the software itself. On the “General” tab under “Version and Updates” you will find the “Check for updates” button. The updated installation packages are also available for direct download.

At the beginning of April, the Powertoys team released version 0.80. Essentially, detailed improvements have been incorporated into the version.
