Portugal: With his 196th selection, Cristiano Ronaldo equals the world record

The Kuwaiti Bader Al Mutawa (37) is no longer alone. Also born in 1985, Cristiano Ronaldo equaled the world record for the number of national team caps on Saturday and now has 196 after coming into play against Morocco in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo came on in the 51st minute, replacing midfielder Ruben Neves as his team trailed 1-0. The five-time Ballon d’Or had its first selection in August 2003, at the age of 18.
