Singer Britney Spears was able to free herself from her father’s guardianship after 13 years, but the dispute over the singer’s money will soon go to the next round in court.

The dispute between singer Britney Spears (40) and her father Jamie Spears (69) over money payments and other matters continues in court.

At a hearing in Los Angeles, Judge Brenda Penny set a court date for late July. The lawyers on both sides fought a heated battle, as reported by US media.

According to Rolling Stone Magazine, Britney’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, made previous allegations that the singer was under heavy surveillance under her father’s long guardianship. The lawyer also wants to investigate allegations that the father should have enriched himself with his daughter’s millions of dollars. Jamie Spears wants more payments for himself and his legal team for work done while in custody.

The judge initially made no decision in the money dispute between daughter and father. However, she refrained from requiring the singer to invest a cash reserve for possible payment claims, as “Variety” reported. Accordingly, Spears can freely dispose of her millions of dollars.

After 13 years under guardianship, Spears had regained her freedom in mid-November. Judge Penny suspended conditions to control the pop star’s finances and personal affairs. Jamie Spears has held guardianship of his daughter since 2008 after the singer suffered a mental breakdown over personal and professional issues.
