Pokémon Go: Why the game is still going strong – Economy

People staring at their cell phones with their heads tilted: a sight that comes as no surprise on a cloudy Saturday afternoon in a Munich shopping center in April. Those who aren’t carrying shopping bags or are exhausted and drinking a coffee on one of the black imitation leather benches hold their smartphone in one hand and frantically wipe it around with the other. But not to write Whatsapp messages. These people here want to discover Pokémon, the small, colorful, rather cute monsters of Japanese origin. These monsters are romping about there this Saturday – purely virtually, of course. People have come to capture them in the mobile game Pokémon Go.
