Winner of the Tour de France in 2020, Tadej Pogacar offered himself this Sunday Liège-Bastogne-Liège. The 22-year-old Slovenian prodigy won the sprint in front of the world champion Julian Alaphilippe and David Gaudu, to succeed his compatriot Primoz Roglic, crowned a few months ago in the Dean of the classics.

Not very inspired in the last meters, Alejandro Valverde finished at the foot of the podium on his 41th birthday, ahead of the fifth thief of the group of breakaways, the Canadian Michael Woods.

Pogacar becomes the youngest winner of the Dean of Classics since Bernard Hinault in 1977. On the other hand, the Badger remains the last French to have won the Dean of Classics, in 1980. During the 2020 edition, Alaphilippe raised his arms too early, before being downgraded.
