Planegg: Satirical carnival musical in the Kupferhaus – district of Munich

Just imagine: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart comes to Planegg by S-Bahn with his lover Tanja, he has a performance in the Heide Volm. But apart from five very Bavarian construction workers, he only encounters a pile of stones and rubble. That is basically the background story of the latest carnival musical, which the SZ author Wolfgang Görl and the conductor and pianist Ludwig Götz, formerly head of the Planegger cultural association Musica Sacra, wrote together. After the Corona break, the two have created another malicious, satirical, insidious work, which will be performed in the Kupferhaus next Sunday, February 12, with a large and prominent musical cast.

As one is used to from the two soulmate artists, they have congenially messed up pretty much everyone and everything that has rank and name in the Würmtal and in the Free State – or wants to have rank and name – in a two-hour carnival concert: the The mayors of Planegg and Krailling, of course, and also the pastors and other Bavarian people. Of course, world politics also gets something. Virtuoso soloists such as Ingolf and Nathanael Turban, Cordula Schuster and Tobias Schwarz appear. Of course, the legendary “Wilde Gurgl” should not be missing either, which – as the critics wrote – “the most unbearable male choir ever”.

You shouldn’t reveal much of the plot before such a performance, just this much: Mozart and his entourage are standing frustrated in the drafty Planegg station forecourt, between Tanja, the construction workers and the genius who is completely unknown here (“So, composer san Sie … so oaner like Dieter Bohlen?”), absurd dialogues develop. They are joined by the violonist Ingolf Turban and Lola, who, to Tanja’s great annoyance, immediately throws herself at the obviously flattered and not averse Mozart, and so the flow of action is repeatedly interrupted by solo performances and malicious interludes. A constant back and forth between times, fashions and centuries.

Shortly before the break there is a happy feast from which one does not recover so quickly. And again and again tips on local and high politics, on the already badly strained relationship between man and woman – sometimes it gets pretty hearty and erotic.

A beauty queen and the chancellor were already there, but only one of them was real

The performances of the past few years have proven again and again that the Musica Sacra carnival concert is a cult event. One could easily fill several evenings with large halls, but one is limited to a single appearance during carnival. It’s been like this since 1989, by the way always the “Wilde Gurgl” in the center, initially with Wolfgang Bünten, Thomas Fischaleck, Robert Winter, Ludwig Götz. Titles such as “Die Schröpfung”, “First Planegger Opera Ball”, “Mozartrausch” and this year “Planegg gives itself the Mozartkugel” were created. The (real) beauty queen of Schneitzlreuth was already there, as was the (false) federal chancellor, the composer Ludwig Götz attached a “Rondo Capriccioso for nine lunatics”.

All huge successes, and so one can confidently assume that this year’s Mozart will again conquer the hearts of the people of Planegg. It is not quite as certain whether the real Mozart would have enjoyed the Heide beer temple – but like so many other things, this is pure fiction.
