Planegg – Inexpensive electricity for 300 households – District of Munich

Almost unnoticed by the general public, the municipality of Planegg and the energy producer Regionalwerk Würmtal have implemented a large energy supply project at the Feodor-Lynen-Gymnasium. According to the regional plant, one of the largest photovoltaic projects in the Würmtal has been realized there in recent months. When completed, the plant will generate electricity for around 300 households. According to Mayor Hermann Nafziger (CSU), the municipality can already purchase locally generated electricity at significantly lower prices than would otherwise be possible on the market. For this purpose, additional electricity and heat is generated on site from the community’s existing combined heat and power plants – such as the plant in the basement of the town hall. Nafziger: “In this way, the municipality and the regional plant promote the local energy transition and climate protection.” The facility is to be expanded and will be twice as large as before when it is completed.
