The television station Bild-TV is significantly reducing its live program. “From January 2023, as part of a program reform, we will use Bild TV without the news formats Picture Live and picture in the evening to start,” says a spokesman for the Axel Springer media group.
From now on, Bild-TV will “focus on documentaries and reports,” it says. “But we will continue to be live with our sports programs on Sundays and breaking news when the news is big.” Individual formats such as the talk show Quarter past eight one wants to continue producing for YouTube and also showing it in the TV program. In the future, short news will be offered unmoderated and with a length of two to three minutes. The “Bild Live” editorial team will no longer be continued in its existing form, and temporary positions will be phased out. Industry magazines reported that 80 jobs would be cut. The TV channel started in August 2021, but the ratings were well below expectations.
