Picture of the week – hell in hell – society

Is this a winter wonder?

Looks magical, of course, such a snowy winter landscape. Like a cotton work of art. Mainly because it didn’t work out in Germany again with a white Christmas. But: The people in the USA would certainly have liked to do without “Elliot”.

Who is “Elliot”?

That’s the name of an arctic storm that hit the north-east of the USA at Christmas: with extreme temperatures of up to minus 40 degrees Celsius, storm and snow masses. This picture was taken on Lake Erie in upstate New York.

Is improvement in sight?

The cold front is slowly weakening, as is the storm. The clearance work is still going on, but the blizzard record is already devastating: there have been countless accidents, power failures and flight failures. In addition, many injured and unfortunately more than 60 dead.
