Photographer, helicopter pilot, adventurer: a portrait of Florian Wagner – Munich

The helicopter’s engine stutters and they land in the middle of the South African bushland. At some point a shepherd appears. The man says the next settlement is an hour’s walk away. It’s getting dark, so they’re forced to set up camp and spend the night in the open air. The water reserves ran out when trying to clean the clogged air filter. Now a liter for three people and a couple of muesli bars are their last ration. The next morning the pilot sets out on foot to the village to fetch supplies. “Never before have I become so aware of what a lack of water means,” says Florian Wagner.
