The TV debt advisor Peter Zwegat is dead. His former broadcaster RTL announced this to the German Press Agency in Cologne. Zwegat died suddenly and unexpectedly at the beginning of August at the age of 74, according to RTL. The funeral took place in the closest circle.
Zwegat was best known for the RTL program “Get Out of Debt,” which was first broadcast in 2007. In it he gave people a helping hand who were overwhelmed by their financial situation. The trained administrative officer and social worker was known for putting his heart and soul into helping his clients – but also for finding harsh words when necessary.
In this way, Zwegat was able to help many over-indebted families or individuals. Zwegat sometimes also advised celebrities with financial problems for RTL – for example Nadja “Naddel” Abd el Farrag. Until 2019 there were editions of “Get Out of Debt” with the Berlin debt advisor.
In almost 140 episodes of “Get Out of Debt” and several specials that followed, Zwegat brought his “extensive knowledge and incomparable expertise” into the living rooms of numerous viewers, explained RTL. “With his extraordinary commitment and warmth of heart, Peter Zwegat has helped numerous people get their lives back under control,” said RTL entertainment director Markus Küttner.
