Peter Schilling: That’s how the singer of the hit “Major Tom” feels today

His song “Major Tom (completely detached)” made Peter Schilling suddenly famous in 1982. But the great success almost killed him. This is how the singer feels today.

Interview: Matthew Schmidt

Can you put it this way: An imaginary astronaut shaped your life?
That can hardly be denied. That was the culmination of a great life’s work.

Their hit “Major Tom” will soon be available in Spanish. A money printing machine for 40 years?
That’s what you said. I’m happy to have such a lighthouse in my repertoire. Millions of artists would want that. Just this: I’m fine. But nothing comes from nothing. You have to take an entrepreneurial view of the goods you have created, maintain and market them throughout your life.
