Perrache station, temple of dirt since the cleaners strike

Coffee cups spilled on the floor or placed anywhere, sticky tiles, stained with huge stains, a multitude of papers thrown negligently on the ground or even metro tickets strewn on the tiles. Since October 10, waste has been piling up at the Perrache bus station in Lyon. The service agents of the Arc-en-ciel company, responsible for cleaning the premises, are on an indefinite strike. They demand the preservation of their work, threatened from January 1, 2023. The Métropole de Lyon has launched a call for tenders in order to renew its service provider.

It wishes to give priority to support in the employment of “people supported under social action”. A policy of insertion that the service agents regret, seeing here a “pure revenge” to “get rid of the strikers of last year”. A year earlier, the employees had mobilized for ten days to denounce the harassment and humiliation of one of their managers.

Despite the request of the Metropolis to the company Arc-en-Ciel to ensure “the establishment of a minimum service”, the station of Perrache remains very unsanitary all the same. We went to the scene to take stock on video.
