If these are indeed the traffickers in question, this staging borrowed from the FLNC or more recently from the South American cartels, would constitute a first in the history of drug trafficking in France. Indeed, the sequence, which has been circulating since Wednesday on social networks, shows people claiming to be from the “DZ Mafia”. These individuals deny any involvement in the latest series of murders which bloodied Marseille. Marseille investigators from the cybercrime unit are already working to analyze the document, we told 20 Minutes and The Marseille prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation.
We count a priori thirteen hooded people standing behind a fourteenth individual. The latter reads a text from a cell phone, arms spread out on a desk covered with white fabric bearing the “DZ Mafia” logo in black tape.
For a little over a minute, the speaker with a distorted voice, covered in black clothes from head to toe and his eyes hidden by a ski mask, explains that “the DZ Mafia has nothing to do with or near, nor far in all that has happened” and wishes “that no more young children of [la] Phocaean city or elsewhere is involved.
A video likely appeared shortly after midnight
The sequence, filmed in a clean, narrow room, with white walls and a floor covered with a light imitation parquet floor, obviously did not escape the Marseille investigators from the cybercrime unit. At first glance, the hypothesis of an AI-generated video seems unlikely. Deemed “credible” by two well-informed police sources, the video must still be considered with caution pending its possible authentication. Its origin? un TikTok account on which it was posted around 2 a.m. this Wednesday.
But the method questions as much as the content. Never before has a network of French drug traffickers spoken publicly in this way.
Also, this “press release” intends to “reestablish the truth” and deny the revelations made by Hacène L., a 23-year-old inmate from the Paris region. Prisoner who allegedly told the courts that he worked for the DZ Mafia and was the instigator of several murders involving children. “The fourteen-year-old child and the use of the VTC to commit a crime have nothing to do with our methods. We have enough men, vehicles, means to act,” concludes the press release, describing Hacène L. as “sick and mythomaniac.”
But whatever this denial, justice and investigators attribute the murders of Nessim Ramdane and the 15-year-old to a war between the “DZ Mafia” and “the Blacks”. And this, “for the control of a point of deal”, explained Nicolas Bessone, the public prosecutor of Marseille, this Sunday.
