Pécresse defends the voice of women, teachers without demonstrations and a presidential election without young people

Did you miss the news this early morning? We’ve put together a recap to help you see things more clearly.

Valérie Pécresse finally came to Jean-Jacques Bourdin’s new show France in the eyes. Tuesday evening on BFMTTV, the LR presidential candidate, however, immediately underlined that she had “clearly asked the question” of her participation, because of the investigation for suspicion of sexual assault targeting the journalist. But in the end she came out of “respect” for the presumption of innocence. However, before rolling out her proposals, Valérie Pécresse took the opportunity to vilify “the law of silence” on violence against women. The candidate, who regularly repeats her attachment to Jacques Chirac’s Corrèze, then answered questions from around fifty Corréziens during this political program broadcast from Uzerche.

The presidential candidates will have to speed up to convince young people. The hardest part will be to encourage them to go to the voting booth. To the question will you vote to designate the future tenant of the Elysée? The answer is indeed “no” for 55% of 18-30 year olds, according to the #MoiJeune2022 OpinionWay barometer – 20 minutes West France – Journaux de Loire*, published this Wednesday. And the intention to abstain even rises to 62% among the youngest, 18-22 year olds. Young people are however, according to our barometer, 62% to be interested in this campaign. Everything is still possible.

It is a non-compliance with administrative rules that risks amplifying the tension between teachers and the Ministry of National Education. Discontent will not be able to express itself in the street on Thursday. “The prefect of police (…) did not ban the demonstration” but was unable to “issue a receipt” to the organizers whose prior declaration was not filed within the “legal deadlines”, namely more than three days before the day of mobilization, underlines the prefecture. She indicates that she only received the statement on Tuesday at “12:20 p.m.”. According to a source familiar with the matter, the unions “counted on each other to make the declaration, suddenly they are out of time”. The movement will therefore have to be limited to a strike.
