Passau – deer jumping through old town – Bavaria

A deer caused a stir in Passau. First, a driver saw the animal on a street on Wednesday, a police spokesman said. Later the stag ran through the old town of Passau. There he jumped, according to the spokesman, over a wall and then into the Danube. The deer was too fast for the police and could not be caught. After its detour to the Danube, the animal was no longer found by the officials. It damaged a car on its way. The police suspect that the deer could be one of eleven animals that escaped from a game reserve near Passau at the end of August. A stronger wind had damaged the enclosure at that time, so that the animals could escape. The owners gave up the enclosure after the incident and declared the animals to be abandoned, the police spokesman explained. That means that a hunter can shoot the deer.
