After a long night session that lasted until the early hours of the morning, the Greens begin a late debate on their European election manifesto. For quality of life or prosperity?

After drawing up their list of candidates for the At the weekend of the European elections, the Greens entered into the debate about their European policy roadmap for the next few years. The discussions on the European election program are scheduled to conclude on Sunday afternoon.

Some of the approximately 800 delegates are offended by the term “prosperity” in the chapter on economic, energy and climate policy. Instead, they suggest the term “quality of life” because, in their view, “prosperity” is primarily “understood in the sense of a consumerist supply of goods and services.”

The election of 40 candidates for the European elections in June 2024 ended in the early hours of Saturday morning. The fact that the party conference continued a little late today was probably also due to the night session, which only ended around 2:15 a.m. On Friday, the delegates elected the Green Party leader in the European Parliament, Terry Reintke, to number 1 on the list. The party executive committee had previously been re-elected around the two co-chairs, Ricarda Lang and Omid Nouripour.
