A drama in the streets of Paris. A knife and hammer attack, in the Quai de Grenelle area, in the 15th arrondissement, left one dead and two injured this Saturday evening. The alleged perpetrator of the tragedy was arrested. He reportedly shouted “Allah Akbar” after the attack, a police source told AFP and Le Parisien.

A first victim died
One of the victims of the attack, a tourist with dual German and Filipino nationality, was found in cardiorespiratory arrest on the Bir-Hakeim bridge, between the 15th and 16th arrondissements of Paris, shortly before 10 p.m., indicates a source police officer at Le Parisien. The man died from a stab wound to his back and shoulder.
At Avenue du President Kennedy, a second victim was injured with a hammer. This English tourist was found with a wound on his head and was treated by firefighters. According to a police source, this man was walking with his wife and child when the attacker came up behind him and struck him. A second person was also injured in the attack. His condition remains to be clarified.
The assailant arrested
The alleged perpetrator of the attack was arrested by the police, indicates Gérald Darmanin. During his arrest, he threatened the police with a hammer, shouting “Allah Akbar”, a police source told Le Parisien. The agents then used an electric pulse gun twice to immobilize the assailant, arrested at Avenue du Parc de Passy.
