Paris: Cyril Lignac victim of a burglary, two arrests

Cyril Lignac’s home in the 7th arrondissement of Paris was the target of a burglary during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. Two suspected thieves were arrested near the famous pastry chef’s apartment.

The burglary occurred around 3 a.m., a police source told AFP. According to our information, the apartment was empty at the time of the incident. The arrests took place at 4:30 a.m. and were carried out by the anti-crime brigade of the 15th arrondissement.

Two individuals, born in 2000 and 2003 respectively, were arrested and placed in police custody, according to the prosecution to AFP, adding that investigations are continuing. The site News17 mentions a third person who managed to escape.

A flagrant investigation was entrusted to the 7th arrondissement police station for the charge of break-in into a residential premises during a meeting, indicated the Paris prosecutor’s office. If the damage is estimated at more than 50,000 euros, the judicial police will be contacted.

In addition to his activity as a chef, Cyril Lignac is a host in numerous culinary programs on the M 6 channel, notably the show Le Meilleur Pâtissier. The pastry chef has not reacted for the moment and the loot from the burglary is not known.

Although there was no kidnapping, the criminals were nevertheless equipped with baseball bats or iron bars, the victims said. They left with luxury bags and jewelry.
