Paris: artist builds 32 meter high miniature of the Eiffel Tower

Locals and tourists who went to Paris’ most famous landmark, the Eiffel Tower, were amazed at the weekend. Because suddenly there were two Eiffel Towers. A big one and a small one. The little one is still 32 meters high and weighs 23 tons. The whole thing was this man’s idea: “Hello, my name is Philippe Maindron. I’m a creator of strange events. And I had a dream – that the Eiffel Tower would have a baby.” The baby is called Eiffela and was officially born on April 1st. The small Eiffel Tower consists of 3900 large and 9000 smaller metal parts and stands directly opposite the 330 meter high original. Depending on where you stand, it seems like both towers are the same size. “We assumed we were working on the full height of the Eiffel Tower. On a scale of 10. Which means it’s 10 times smaller than its mother. That’s why it can be visually deceiving. Because it depends , whichever angle we look at it from, it’s like we’re seeing two Eiffel Towers, or a small Eiffel Tower and a large Eiffel Tower, or that the baby can look as tall as the mother, and that’s the funny thing — this idea of perspective that we have in space, in 3D.” In keeping with Maindron’s idea of a “baby tower,” every 10 minutes, the sound of a crying baby emerges from Eiffela, followed by a soothing lullaby and a voice saying, “Eiffela, I’m here. Everything’s fine.” People in Paris can still enjoy the spectacle for almost two weeks. Then the baby Eiffel Tower will set off on a voyage across the Atlantic.
