Pancake Ice Cream: Weird Ice Cream Phenomenon in Britain

Watch the video: Is there garbage floating in the river? No, the pictures are about a strange ice phenomenon

Garbage or frozen water lilies?
Both wrong! This is a rare natural phenomenon. Because it’s ice floes that are drifting through this river. The phenomenon is called “pancake ice”.
These round ice floes, which actually look like failed pancakes, are usually formed when a thin layer of ice breaks up. The fragments are then rubbed together by current and wind and get their round shape.
These scale-shaped floes were recorded on the River Wharfe in England.
In fact, they are almost perfectly round in this shot. They were discovered in the Scottish River Bladnoch. The video was shared by the Scottish Environment Agency.
The scientists assume that these pancakes were not formed from ice, but from freezing foam on the water’s surface.
