The 29-year-old was attacked at around 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Milanofiori di Assago shopping center on the outskirts of Milan. As reported by Italian media, Mari is conscious and in the hospital, where Monza boss Adriano Galliani and coach Raffaele Palladino are said to be present.
A 46-year-old Italian man was arrested by police and taken into custody for the attack. Another of the stabbed men is said to have already died.
Galliani said: “Pablo Mari is not in danger as his injuries are not life threatening. We hope to see him again soon.”
Mari is from his parent club arsenal loaned to Monza. Gunners coach Mikel Arteta added: “I just found out. I know Edu is in touch with his family…he’s in hospital, seems fine. Hopefully he’s fine.”
