Overwatch 2 Explained: Battle Pass, New Support Hero Kiriko, and More

Overwatch 2 will be released on October 4th and will usher in a new era for the franchise. Today we’re extremely excited to report on the new Free-to-Play system, the introduction of nine-week seasons, and our newest support hero. on playoverwatch you can also find the full Battle Pass blog and FAQ.

Kiriko supports her team with gentle healing, deadly precision, and smooth mobility. Kiriko will be available immediately via the Founders Pack for returning Overwatch 1 owners, and will be introduced in the Free and Premium Battle Pass for new players.

Overwatch 2 new season model

Overwatch 2 is transitioning to a seasonal model, where we plan to add new content to the game every nine weeks in the form of new heroes, maps, game modes, premium cosmetics, and more.

The Season 1 Battle Pass offers the following unlockable rewards across 20 tiers, spread across the 80+ tiers in total:

  • Newest Support Hero, Kiriko (instant unlock for returning Overwatch players; available in Free and Premium Battle Pass for new players)
  • 2 epic skins
  • 1 weapon pendant
  • 2 souvenirs
  • 1 highlight intro
  • 14 additional items (emotes, victory poses, name cards, sprays, player icons, etc.)
  • Prestige Titles (8 earnable titles only available after completing the entire pass)

The Season One Premium Battle Pass includes the following unlockable rewards in addition to all of the free rewards above:

  • Instant access to Kiriko
  • 20% XP Battle Pass Boost
  • 1 Mythic Skin
  • 5 Legendary Skins and 1 Epic Skin
  • 3 Play of the Game intros
  • 4 weapon pendants
  • 3 emotes
  • 3 souvenirs
  • 6 poses
  • 6 name cards
  • 30+ additional cosmetic rewards
