Oudéa-Castéra referred to trial for defamation against the former president of the FFF

The battle continues. The Court of Justice of the Republic (CJR) ordered on Thursday the referral for trial of Sports Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castéra for defamation against Noël Le Graët, indicated the Attorney General at the Court of Cassation Rémy Heitz.

Asked by AFP, he announced in a press release this dismissal, resulting from a procedure triggered by a complaint from the former president of the French Football Federation in April 2023 after comments made by Amélie Oudéa-Castéra on his management of the FFF. The comments in question were made in “a press conference on February 15, 2023 and an interview on March 5, 2023.”

Only jurisdiction authorized to judge ministers

The only court empowered to judge ministers in the exercise of their functions, the CJR opened a judicial investigation in June 2023 to examine the complaint of the former boss of French football. After eleven years of reign, Le Graët had resigned with a bang in February 2023, amid accusations of sexual harassment.
