Ottobrunn – Farewell to the anniversary – District of Munich

There was great resistance 30 years ago. “Those were just completely different times,” says Angelika Krödel, who works in the secretariat of the Protestant crèche on Einsteinstrasse in Ottobrunn. “You can no longer imagine that today, nowadays there is a right to a childcare place. But back then it was still not accepted for everyone to put children in a daycare center.” And yet in 1991 the Evangelical Lutheran Daycare Association Ottobrunn founded the first Evangelical day nursery in all of Upper Bavaria.

The club celebrated its 30th birthday on Sunday – and also said goodbye. “Everything with a laughing and a crying eye,” as Krödel says. An anniversary service on the Eichendorffwiese was followed by a “Corona-compliant” get-together with “Coffe to go”, as Krödel says; Mayor Thomas Loderer (CSU) was also there and celebrated with the teachers, children and parents.

For Ruth Markwart-Kunas, SPD councilor and chairwoman of the board of the Einsteinstrasse day care center, it was also a day of melancholy. Because from September 1st, the facility will be managed by the community-owned Ottobrunner Kita GmbH, which already operates an after-school care center and a day-care center in the house on Einsteinstrasse. “Here everything will then be in one hand,” says Krödel, who especially praises the work of MarkwartKunas. “She is always there with a lot of passion and heart and soul, and has experienced ups and downs over the years,” says Krödel. “In the end, however, it was also a rational decision to hand over the crèche to Kita GmbH.” The Evangelical Lutheran Daycare Association Ottobrunn will continue to operate the house for children at Albert-Schweitzer-Straße 1. In the future, however, the Kita GmbH will be responsible for the 30 crèche places on Einsteinstrasse. Krödel sees the facility above all as “staffed well”; this is not a matter of course in the district. The community is also strongly committed to skilled workers; In the future, the community-owned Kita GmbH will operate several kindergartens, after-school care centers and crèches at eight locations in the community area.
