He already has an Oscar, and now he’s adding another star: Director and screenwriter Adam McKay is happy that his name can now also be “read on a sidewalk” in Hollywood.

Oscar winner Adam McKay (53, “Don’t Look Up”) has unveiled a star plaque on Hollywood’s “Walk of Fame”.

“It’s completely crazy to read your own name on a sidewalk,” the director and screenwriter joked to onlookers and photographers. McKay brought his wife Shira Piven and their daughters Lili Rose and Pearl to the ceremony. In his acceptance speech, he also mentioned the family’s “perfect” dog, who would happily eat rubbish.

As a guest speaker, actor and comedian John C. Reilly (56) was full of praise. He would look up to him even though McKay was several years younger, Reilly joked. He is one of the funniest, nicest and bravest people, said the actor, who starred in McKay’s films “Ricky Bobby – King of the Racers” and “Step Brothers”. McKay received the 2713th Plaque on Hollywood Boulevard.

McKay recently brought stars like Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence in front of the camera for the bitter satire “Don’t Look Up”. The film about two astronomers who warn the world of a dangerous comet recently received four Oscar nominations. McKay could win an Oscar for best picture as a producer and for the original screenplay.

He has often demonstrated his biting sense of humour. With “Vice – The Second Man” (2019) he made a real satire about the hard-line politician Dick Cheney. With the financial thriller “The Big Short” (2016), he entertainingly staged rather bulky material about the great crash on the US real estate market. It won him the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.
