Orion landed again: NASA capsule safely returned from moon mission (video)

Watch the video: Unmanned Orion capsule back on Earth after 25-day lunar mission.

STORY: Back on Earth. NASA’s unmanned Orion capsule landed Sunday in the Pacific Ocean off Mexico’s Baja California peninsula and was transferred aboard a US Navy ship. The capsule completed a 25-day lunar mission during which it flew 127 kilometers past the Earth’s satellite and reached a maximum distance from Earth of more than 430,000 kilometers. The journey into space was the first mission of NASA’s new Artemis lunar program – 50 years after the Apollo mission’s last lunar landing. The capsule was launched on November 16th from Cape Canaveral in Florida. In the next few years, NASA also wants to fly astronauts to the moon again in order to eventually create a permanent lunar base there, also as a stepping stone for a future Mars mission. NASA will now deal with the evaluation of the data collected by Orion.
