Organic supermarket chain Basic is insolvent – economy

The organic supermarket chain Basic has applied for a protective shield procedure at the Munich district court in order to restructure itself. The 20 German Basic branches will remain open during the self-administration process. Most of these branches are located in Bavaria. The range will remain in its entirety, it said in a statement. The branches in Austria are not part of the protective shield procedure. The reason given was that “as in most other German organic supermarkets”, the price increases had led to consumer reluctance to buy.
