First look at Florence Pugh and more plot details: The new trailer for Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” is here.

A new, more detailed and probably final one Trailers to “Oppenheimer” is here. The new film by star director Christopher Nolan (52, “Inception”) will be released on July 20, 2023. The focus is on the physicist Robert Oppenheimer, who developed the atomic bomb as scientific director of the Manhattan Project for the USA – in a fight against time, the Nazis and your own conscience.

“Oppenheimer” is to follow its title hero over four decades. The new trailer – at three minutes the longest of the film to date – focuses on the work on the atomic bomb project in the New Mexico desert.

Full trailer promises Nolan’s most straight-forward film in a long time

Oppenheimer and military chief Leslie R. Groves assemble a team of the best researchers. To make them feel at home, they build a village in the desert and cart the scientists’ families away.

While the first official trailer was a bit cryptic, the new version is much more straightforward and dialogue-heavy. As it stands, Christopher Nolan doesn’t operate as playfully with time and narrative perspectives this time as he does in “Tenet” or “Dunkirk”.

First look at Florence Pugh – and Albert Einstein

The title role embodies Cillian Murphy (46), his first leading role with Nolan after various smaller parts. Emily Blunt (40) plays his wife Kitty. Matt Damon (52) is Leslie R. Groves. Also included are Robert Downey Jr. (58), Rami Malek (41) and Kenneth Branagh (62).

For the first time fans get to see rising star Florence Pugh (27) in her role as Jean Tatlock, Oppenheimer’s lover. And briefly there is also a look at Tom Conti (81) as Albert Einstein.
