Operation punch against drug trafficking

Six people were arrested and taken into custody on Wednesday in Le Mans, as part of a police operation to combat drug trafficking. The arrests took place in Les Sablons, a district in the south-east of the city which has been plagued by strong tensions between traffickers in recent days.

Narcotics were seized from homes, along with two rifles and an automatic pistol, bringing the total to ten firearms discovered in ten days, reports West France.

One million euros announced

Came on site with the prefect and the public prosecutor, the mayor of Le Mans Stéphane Le Foll (PS) announced Wednesday that one million euros would be invested by the end of the mandate for the security of the district of Sablons and the fight against drug trafficking.

On March 18, a young man and a woman were injured by gunfire in this neighbourhood.
