Open air in the fair: Rolling Loud comes to Munich – Munich

When the first giant open-air events on the Munich exhibition grounds for 2023 were announced, the rocker’s heart first jumped: “Rolling…” it says, but that doesn’t turn out to be the case Rolling Stones, who were already in discussion for the new Munich event area, which has been used extensively since 2022. After Andreas Gabalier, Helene Fischer (130,000 visitors) and Robbie Williams, “Rolling Loud” is now rolling on. Frowns on all hip-hop laymen.

“Rolling Loud” is the largest “hip-hop-only festival” in the world, i.e. a concert party with only rapping artists, mainly of American origin. It was founded in Florida in 2015 by two elementary school friends Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif. The festival has long dominated the industry, with more than 200,000 visitors coming to Miami in 2021. And “Rolling Loud” became a world power, with offshoots not only in the USA (California, New York), but also in Australia, Hong Kong, Canada, Romania and Portugal, and in 2023 also in Rotterdam and Munich.

What exactly will happen at Messe Riem from July 7th to 9th is still unclear. No artists have been confirmed yet. In Miami at least, rap giants Kendrick Lamar, Niki Minaj and Future have already performed. Kanye West made a brief appearance at Lil Durk’s performance, Travis Scott was sued for inciting a mass stampede, various rappers were arrested for drug possession, internal feuds or equipment theft, and 2021 also saw a major wrestling show at Rolling Loud Miami instead. Munich should also be banging along quite a bit, the playground is open.
