One year in prison for the man who threatened the mayor of a village with death

A man in his thirties was given a one-year suspended prison sentence by the Nîmes criminal court. On January 11, he had threatened with death, in front of his wife and his grandson, the mayor of Manual, a town of 6,702 inhabitants located in the agglomeration of the prefecture of Gard. The defendant accused the city councilor of being behind the seizure of his dog at the end of December (which had been returned in the meantime).

Several residents were worried about the regular presence of the hound left unattended in the village. Jean-Jacques Granat (LR), elected since 2014, had warned the police for this disturbance to public order, leading to the intervention of the military, on the order of the public prosecutor.

Ban on staying in Manduel

The court sentenced the defendant to one year in prison, with a two-year suspended probation. A man already convicted eight times for possession of narcotics and possession of weapons. He was banned from coming to Manduel for three years and from contacting the mayor.
