One injured in a knife attack in Brussels

The assailant was arrested by Belgian police. This Monday, a person was injured in a knife attack in Brussels, which occurred in a metro station in the district of the European institutions. “Knife attack in the Schuman station: The collaboration with the various police services (…) allowed the rapid arrest of the author”, tweeted the mayor of Brussels Philippe Close.

The federal police indicated that a person had been injured during the attack, which occurred around 6 p.m. without providing information at this stage on the motivations of the latter.

A few dozen meters from the European institutions

The federal prosecutor’s office indicated that it had not been seized “at this stage”. According to an AFP journalist present at the scene, several plainclothes police officers would run around 6 p.m. to a platform at the Schuman metro station, located a few dozen meters from the headquarters of the European Commission and the European Council.

A woman then urged passengers entering the station to turn back, reporting the presence inside of a person armed with a knife.
