In the same thick fog as Monday, the vast excavations resumed this Tuesday morning in
Cagnac-les-Mines to try to find the body of Delphine Jubillar. They take place in an area about one kilometer from the couple’s house, where the nurse was last seen on the evening of December 15, 2020. And in particular around the famous burned farm of Drignac where, according to a fellow prisoner of the husband, Cédric Jubillar, the body could have been hidden.
“We have to keep digging. Redoing excavations in places that have already been excavated is not perfectly illegitimate (…) We are very attentive to the evolution of the situation”, indicates Philippe Pressecq, the lawyer of the cousin of the disappeared, questioned by 20 minutes.
But this representative of the civil parties is also suspicious of the famous burnt farm, which has become the epicenter of the investigations. “We are very skeptical about these searches, because their origin is the discussions that Cédric Jubillar had with his fellow prisoner following his incarceration, he confides Very frankly, the first thing we learn when you go back to prison, it’s because you shouldn’t talk to your fellow prisoners, because what you say is repeated. I find it completely implausible that a person who denies his guilt so fiercely confides in anyone on the whereabouts of his victim’s body.
The fear that Cédric Jubillar wants to “spotlight”
The Albigensian lawyer fears a new “provocation” from suspect n°1: “In reality Cédric Jubillar is a pervert, an unhealthy provocateur, he believes. He plays with everyone from the start. He’s played with his family, his friends, he’s played with the investigators, he’s played with the judges and he takes great pleasure in leading people on the tracks. He wants to put himself in the light, even if it’s a bit of a dark light”.
Philippe Pressecq does not exclude either that the body could have been moved. “Six months passed between the incarceration of Cédric Jubillar and the disappearance of his wife, during which many things could have happened,” he recalls.
The excavations must last several days, even several weeks. A squadron of mobile gendarmes joined on Tuesday the specialized soldiers already deployed on Monday. He is in charge of probing and combing the surroundings.
