As a stuffy Dr. Dressler, he was a permanent member of the Lindenstrasse. From 1985 to 2019, Ludwig Haas played the senior teacher who sat in a wheelchair and didn’t have it easy otherwise. A few months before the legendary WDR series was discontinued in 2020, his character died serial death.
Now the actor Ludwig Haas is also dead. As his daughter confirmed to the dpa, he died on September 4th in a hospital in his hometown of Neumünster of old age.
From 1951 to 1953 he completed an acting training at the State University for Music and Theater in Hamburg. Internationally he became known for his role as Adolf Hitler in the productions “Sprengte Ketten – Die Rache des Gefangen” (1988), “Wie ein Licht im Dunkler Nacht” (1992) and “Pétain” (1993). In addition, he was also seen in TV series in supporting roles, such as in crime scene, The old and Derrick.
But most of them were attracted to him by his most important role, which was Dr. Dressier, known. So much so that in real life many were amazed that Haas wasn’t in a wheelchair but could walk. Even after the Lindenstrasse was discontinued, Haas stayed creative and started making small cartoons. In the last episode in which Dr. Dressler can be seen, he asks his foster daughter Jack: “Wouldn’t it be better to leave me to my fate at the end of this wonderful day?” Ludwig Haas was 88 years old.
