On average “30,000 police and gendarmes” will be mobilized every day

We know a little more about the security system that will be put in place during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Speaking before the Senate on Tuesday, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced that an average of “30,000 police and gendarmes per day” will be mobilized for the duration of the competition. More specifically, between “12,000 to 45,000 internal security forces depending on the day” from July 26 to August 11, 2024.

For the opening ceremony on the Seine in Paris, Gérald Darmanin sees bigger and plans 35,000 members of law enforcement. It must be said that a total of “600,000” people will be able to attend, the Minister of the Interior announced on Tuesday.

The lower quays of the Seine will be accessible to “100,000” paying spectators, the upper quays will be free to “500,000 people”, detailed Gérald Darmanin, specifying that a “free ticket office” would be set up to control the flow of spectators along the high quays.
