At the beginning of the summer season there, Germany has several countries in southern Africa – South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique, Eswatini (formerly Swaziland), Malawi and Lesotho – because of the Corona mutant Omikron classified as virus variant areas. Airlines are essentially only allowed to return German citizens or people living in Germany from there. For these travelers – including those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered – a test obligation and two weeks of quarantine follow.
