After their disappointing defeat at Clermont (1-2), OL reacted perfectly by logically dominating Monaco (3-1), Friday evening, at the start of the 36th day. Lyon can still hope to snatch a European qualification. The ASM, it certainly remains fourth but could see this position threatened, in particular by the LOSC, which receives Marseille, Saturday (9 p.m.).
Very rhythmic and pleasant to follow, the meeting changed for the first time from the 1st minute, when Wissam Ben Yedder obtained (for a mowing by Anthony Lopes) and converted a penalty for ASM. But OL quickly reacted immediately and came close to equalizing in the 3rd minute by Jeffinho.
Alexandre Lacazette’s 26th goal
It will finally arrive in the 38th minute, by Alexandre Lacazette (his 26th goal of the season, as much as Kylian Mbappé), on a perfect back serve from Bradley Barcola, after other occasions for Lyon, and at least as many for Monaco, with in particular a superb double-parade by Lopes in front of Youssouf Fofana, very active, and Ben Yedder (34th). In short, the match turned out to be really lively, with teams surrendering blow for blow.
On the restart, it continued, since Lacazette headed off Alexander Nübel (50th), before Golovin forced Lopes to pull off a magnificent intervention (54th). But it was ultimately Lyon who won this magnificent boxing fight by knockout. And this, thanks to two magnificent goals (57th, 78th) with, as a key player, a virtuoso named Rayan Cherki (see below). An oriented control to eliminate Caio Henrique, followed by an incredible roulette to ridicule Chrislain Matsima: what he achieved in the Monegasque area on Lyon’s second goal is simply exceptional. And as Rayan Cherki did not score himself on this shot, since his shot was pushed back on Maxence Caqueret, who concluded (57th, 2-1), it was only fair that he be when even rewarded with a goal.
