Oktoberfest 2022: City of Munich offers Wiesn calf workout – Munich

Munich is a city of athletes. There are more than 650 sports clubs here, including a large club whose football department is currently able to cheer itself on a streaming service. You can like that, but you don’t have to – just as you can be repugnant to certain sports. Jogging, for example, is one of those things.

If you look into the distorted faces of runners on the Isar, you will ask yourself why they even pursue this excruciating activity. Is that some kind of penitential sport? Were they sentenced to court instead of community hours? You don’t dare to ask questions, some look so dobermanlike that you have to be directly afraid of being bitten.

For the sake of peace and to avoid being completely overrun by joggers at some point, the city has been offering a special service for 60 years: For little money, people in Munich can take advantage of a wide range of sports, currently has the department for education and sport presented the new program for the winter. From badminton to Zumba there is everything possible, and for the first time in the indoor program there is also the “Wiesn-Wadl-Workout” this time.

The gymnastics lesson with folk music and Schuhplatteln is always a big hit in summer and it will certainly be a big hit this winter: On the one hand, because some participants hope to ease their withdrawal symptoms after a two-year Wiesn break, and on the other hand, because it is real sports fun and you don’t have to fear biting joggers. In addition, the training should actually bring tight calves.

There is still a while until the next Oktoberfest, be it ten and a half months or years – we currently do not know that exactly. But if there really is an Oktoberfest in 2022, many visitors will first sweat out all the chicken and ox rolls again with urban sports. The sports department is welcome to think about other disciplines. A beer belly training or a hangover yoga would almost be an imposition.
