Official: Newcastle sign Burnley striker Chris Wood
Newcastle United continue to strengthen in relegation battle. Chris Wood will go on goal hunting for the Magpies in the future.
Newcastle United have signed striker Chris Wood from Premier League rivals Burnley. This was officially announced by the Magpies on Thursday morning.
The 30-year-old New Zealand international has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with coach Eddie Howe’s side and is due to play directly in Sunday’s clash against Watford.
Newcastle probably pull release clause at Wood
Wood will wear number 20 at Newcastle and will probably cost around 25 million euros – that’s how high the exit clause in his contract with Burnley was.
Whether Wood can shoot the team out of the relegation zone remains to be seen. In the current season he has only three goals in 17 league games.
Wood is behind for Newcastle Kieran Trippier, who signed from Atletico Madrid last week, the second addition since the takeover of the club.
